KeyTrak, Inc., the leading provider of key and asset management systems, today announced that it has received a patent from the U.S. Patent Office for the KeyTrak Guardian modular electronic key and asset control system.

The patent protects the Guardian’s modular aspect, which allows the system to be fitted with one or more asset containment modules such as total lockdown secure key panels; 5-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch locker panels; and quick-access key drawers.

“We are excited to have been awarded a patent for the KeyTrak Guardian system, solidifying our place as a leader in the key and asset management industry,” KeyTrak Vice President of Sales Steve Robinson said. “The Guardian system gives our customers a customizable platform that can be tailored to fit their needs, whether they need to secure keys, radios, credit cards or other items.”

By managing and tracking access to keys, high-value assets and restricted areas, Guardian helps users better secure their facilities and hold employees and staff accountable. The Guardian system has been used in a number of settings, including police and sheriff departments, universities, correctional facilities, apartment communities, commercial warehouses, office complexes and automotive dealerships.

Guardian’s various module and panel options allow users to better control access to any number of keys and assets. For example, credit cards can be kept in individual compartments that aren’t visible from the exterior, preventing card information from being easily stolen and restricting access to approved users. Likewise, high-value keys that only management should access can be stored separately from keys that are routinely accessed by the rest of the organization’s staff.

“The modular design of the Guardian system gives our customers a myriad of configurations that they can fine-tune for their unique asset management needs,” said KeyTrak Production Supervisor Mike Besosa, whose name is listed on the patent. “The Guardian will allow for growth, and when new requirements arise, the patent allows us to continue to create new modules that can be tailored to our customers’ unique needs.”
