KeyTrak in Education
The five most difficult U.S. colleges to get into are:
- Harvard University
- Yale University
- Princeton University
- Columbia University
- California Institute of Technology
But low acceptance rates aren’t the only thing these schools have in common. Three of them use KeyTrak to protect their assets, including Yale University.
Yale has 8,000 keys to keep track of, so an efficient key management system is a necessity. Yale previously kept its keys in a non-computerized key cabinet. With keys issued to dozens of staff members in a short period of time, the university had no way to keep track of what keys were being taken out of the cabinet.
Yale University now has 17 KeyTrak systems. Tom Langner, Yale’s project manager in charge of security, said, “We have not lost a key in seven years. We know exactly who received the keys and how long they had them for.” Langner said Yale also utilizes the remote management capabilities by running reports to see exactly what keys are checked out. “When dealing with residential colleges, key control is very important,” Langner said.
KeyTrak provides Yale and other educational institutions with a reliable key control solution that provides both employee accountability and security.
